Celtic Knot is a mystic knot as it is endless with no beginning or end. It is very ancient ornament that the celts were drawing long before Christ, used in cave paintings, different ornaments of home decors and jewelry. Historically there were presence of the celts (called the celtiberians) in the territory of Spain.

There are four main types of the Celtic knots and this one specifically is called Shield Knot and it is very powerful symbol of protection.
